Things to do in fall in Charlotte, NC

October 20, 2022 by Danielle Edwards

Things to Do in Fall in Charlotte, NC

We all know that Charlotte, NC is a major metropolitan city with all the amenities of big-city living. However, did you know you can skip trek to the mountains or hillside country to find great fall activities? That’s right; fall fun is right here in your backyard! Here are some of my favorite fall activities in and around Charlotte.

Riverbend Farms

With 30 years as a Pumpkin Patch, Riverbend Farms in Midland, NC, has the fall festivities dialed in. Choose from a variety of pumpkins and gourds directly from the fields. They have four large wagons that go to and from the patches on the weekends, so you can stay there as long as you want. On weekday afternoons, two wagons run continuously. Riverbend is known for its playground and jumbo slides for kids of all ages to enjoy.

Windy Hill Orchards

Windy Hill Orchards is one of the most popular fall activities near Charlotte, NC. Family-owned and operated, this boutique apple orchard and Hard Cider producer is located in the upstate of South Carolina, less than an hour from center-city Charlotte. This orchard has all your favorite fall classics, including apple picking, hard cider flights, fried apple donuts, live music, and much more! It makes for a great day trip with your family!

Scarowinds

Prepare yourself for a good time at Scarowinds – the Carolinas’ best thing to do for Halloween. Navigate through the darkness of horrifying haunted mazes. Discover a world of living nightmares in elaborate scare zones. Get into the Halloween spirit with our ghastly collection of live shows. With spine-chilling haunted attractions and mazes, over 500 terrifying monsters, and the thrills of all your favorite rides, whatever you fear is here at SCarowinds. They also have a few haunted mansions to walk through and haunted areas throughout the park.

Amazing Maize Maze @ Rural Hill

Get lost in seven acres of corn; perfect for outdoor, family-friendly fun! The Amazing Maize Maze at Rural Hill is one of the giant corn mazes in the Southeast, sure to test your puzzle-solving abilities.

Scarecrow Hollow

Daniel Stowe Garden hosts its Scarecrow Hollow exhibit outside Charlotte, in Belmont, NC. Scarecrow Hollow is an eclectic display of original scarecrows for you to enjoy with the whole family. They are unique and designed by members, supporters, and local organizations. Explore Lost Hollow to take photos with and vote for your favorite scarecrow.

Panthers Football Game

There’s nothing more “fall-like” than watching your favorite football team live and in person. Enjoy the crisp fall air and beautiful skyline views while cheering on the Carolina Panthers in the heart of Uptown Charlotte.

Renaissance Festival

Time travel to the most fabulous party since Camelot! Enjoy an outdoor autumn stroll through the Village of Fairhaven, where history comes alive with non-stop, day-long, immersive and interactive entertainment! Filled with arts and crafts, games and rides, jousting knights on horseback, falconry, mermaids, fairies, dragons, feasting, and so much more! This festival is hosted on the weekends from October 2 to November 21. It’s a rain-or-shine event and can get pretty crowded.

Halloween Bar Crawl

Dress up in your favorite costume for a night out on the town on OCTOBER 29! Rich & Bennetts Halloween Bar Crawl is one of the most iconic events and is sure to be a good time! Charlotte’s Original and Biggest Halloween Craw will have 25+ locations throughout Uptown Charlotte. Cost varies from $10-$25 and includes drink specials, event koozie, giveaways, fun swag, and costume contests, and automatically enters you into a raffle to win some fantastic prizes. As usual, a portion of the proceeds will benefit their local charity partner Carolina Breast Friends.

Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Thanksgiving Day Parade in Charlotte is a fun tradition that dates back to the 1940s. Be a part of the region’s official start to the holiday season, complete with lights, music, and ingenuity. This year, the Novant Health Thanksgiving Eve Parade will light up the night, stepping off on Thanksgiving Eve – Wednesday, November 23, on Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tryon Street, and air live at 6:00 p.m. on WBTV.

Questions to Ask Real Estate Agent – Charlotte NC

Questions to Ask Real Estate Agent – Charlotte, NC

Buying a house is likely the most significant investment you will make. Not only that, it’s your sanctuary away from an often-times busy and chaotic world, an investment that will last years, if not decades. Hiring the right real estate agent with experience, expertise, and professionalism can make your home-buying experience more enjoyable and financially fruitful. This blog is dedicated to helping you understand what questions to ask your real estate agent in Charlotte, NC.

It’s astonishing how many online resources help narrow your field down when searching for an agent. And many times, this is helpful when beginning the interview process. However, finding an agent using Google can take time and effort. Because real estate is hyper-local, you may find someone who looks fantastic but needs to know your local niche market. It’s essential to research their website to see where most of their business tends to be. In the video below, you’ll see an example of what can happen if you only use google reviews to select your agent.

As you’re considering candidates, keep in mind these questions to ask a real estate in Charlotte, NC.

  • Have you helped buyers find or list homes in this area?
  • Do you work full-time or part-time?
  • What do your services cover?
  • What am I expected to pay for?
  • What is the commission rate?
  • How many clients do you currently have?
  • How do you help clients compete in this market?

Things most Professional real estate agents should pay for:

  • Professional pictures
  • Professional Floor plan / Measurements
  • Marketing on social media
  • Targeted postcards
  • Professional videos if your home warrants that
  • Guidance on listing preparation and what it takes to get top dollar.
  • Staging- Danielle staging, virtual staging, or complete staging
  • Communication- what to expect

October 1, 2022 by Danielle Edwards

5501 SUNSTAR CT – CHEROKEE – SOUTH CHARLOTTE

Presenting 5501 Sunstar Ct in Cherokee of South Charlotte. This luxury home exudes Old English charm, and is situated on a quiet cul-de-sac. This picturesque home was custom built and designed by the former homeowner, who was an architect. The current owners gave it a luxurious facelift with top-of-the-line design choices and a keen eye that make this home an “Ace”. The kitchen was opened up to give you that open-floor plan and replaced with all the items you fancy — Bosch, Level 5 Granite.

A few of the standouts include a bonus room over the 3-car garage, the side-screened porch, and the low-maintenance backyard with a new deck and patio pavers! What Makes Weddington, NC a Best Charlotte Suburb?

September 24, 2022 by Danielle Edwards

What Makes Weddington, NC, a Best Charlotte Suburb?

by Charlotte Real Estate Agent Danielle Edwards

Welcome to Weddington, NC!

If you’re reading this post, it’s maybe because you’ve heard about how great Weddington, NC, is. What used to be a small, quaint North Carolina town is booming into a bustling Charlotte suburb. If you are looking to move to the Charlotte, NC, area, Weddington is a magnet for people and families wanting wide open spaces, newer homes, community amenities, and, of course, more bang for your buck!

I recently moved several families to this sparkling suburb via Facetime or in person – from all over the United States. Their main focus was a safe place to raise their family and top schools. But, let’s not forget the beautiful parks, access to sports fields, hockey, gymnastics–you name it— it is here — tucked away behind soaring pine trees.

YOUTUBE VIDEO BELOW ALL ABOUT WEDDINGTON and HIGHLIGHT on THE ESTATES AT ATHERTON.

Where is Weddington located compared to Charlotte, NC?

Weddington NC

Weddington is 2-3 miles from I-485,  making this location attractive to hybrid and remote workers. But even if you commute daily, it is doable — about 35-40 minutes to uptown. Some roads are 2-lane country roads, which during rush hour, can have a slower pace after a long day. The further you live from the Charlotte city center, you get “more bang for your buck.” Just realize it might take you longer to get home, which costs time, gas, and wear and tear on your car. The taxes are slightly cheaper in Weddington, but if you are a commuter, you make up for that the further out you buy.

It comes down to what is important to you! I tell clients to think about how they live now. What is important to you? Since I have lived in many areas throughout Charlotte and the US, I usually can give examples to my clients on what they can expect relative to their lifestyle.

Top Things to Do near Weddington, NC?

Hunter Farms offers seasonal educational farm tours during the Spring, Fall, and Winter seasons. Kids can discover the sights and sounds of a working farm. You can rent a garden plot to grow your food or an outdoor venue for special events, such as parties, receptions, and reunions.

Charlotte Helicopters offers aerial sightseeing tours in many areas in and around Charlotte. Make memories with your friends and family by taking an aerial tour of Uptown Charlotte, Speedway, Lake Wylie, and Lake Norman. Custom tours of your choosing are also available.

Waverly hosts Weddington’s finest shopping, restaurants, homes, and office space, all located off I-485 near Ballantyne, Blakeney, Matthews & Waxhaw. A walkable community with the urban energy you’re looking for and the convenient South Charlotte location you desire. Stylish living options abound, just steps from the office. Designed to bring people together, Waverly is the perfect place to meet friends for coffee or a cocktail. Sample a variety of cuisines from the many dining hot spots on The Terrace. Park once and take care of your entire to-do list – whether buying organic groceries at Whole Foods, working out, picking up that perfect new outfit, or going to the dentist. Everything you need is right here.

Six Mile Creek Greenway has a beautiful 1.8-mile out-and-back trail. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 31 min to complete. This greenway is a popular trail for road biking, running, and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of the day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas.

Downtown Waxhaw is home to thriving arts, cultural and dining scenes, less than 15 minutes from Weddington. Enjoy arts and history museums, parks, trails, antiquing, and breweries!

Weddington NC

Welcome to Weddington, NC

If you are reading this post it is probably because you heard about how great Weddington, NC is.
What use to be a small quaint North Carolina town, is booming into a bustling Charlotte suburb with small town feel. If you are looking to move to the Charlotte, NC area this area is a magnet for people or families wanting wide open spaces, newer homes, community amenities, and of course— more bang for your buck!

I recently have moved several families to this sparkling suburb via Facetime or in person – from all over the United States. Their main focus was a safe place to raise their family and top schools. But, let’s not forget the beautiful parks, access to sports fields, hockey, gymnastics–you name it— it is here– tucked away behind soaring pine trees.

Weddington Chase

Weddington Chase

Built by well known Charlotte builder John Wieland.

Most of Wieland communities all look the same. Large brick stately homes, columns or porches, larger lots, and top notch community amenities. They are typically all built out in different phases and offer you many floor plans from basement homes, cul de sac homes, facing a pond/lake, or the coveted private treed lot!

Where is Weddington located compared to Charlotte, NC?

This location in Weddington Chase is 2-3 miles to 485 our beltway that gets you to I-77. This is attractive because many do not have to commute to the city everyday like before. Even if you do, it is not a bad commute. However, I will warn you- some lanes are 2 lane country roads. During rush hour this can sometimes be a slow pace to get you back home. The further out you live from the Charlotte city center you do get “more bang for your buck”. Just realize, it might take you longer to get home and that costs time, gas, and wear and tear on your car. Some will proudly boast that the taxes are slighty cheaper in Weddington too! But, to me… you make up for that being further out.

Really it comes down to what is important to you! I tell clients to think about how you live now. What is important to you? Since I have lived in many areas throughout Charlotte and the US, I normally can give examples to my clients on what they can expect relative to their lifestyle. I love the Weddington Chase location because it has quick access to Providence Rd and Publix my favorite grocery store!

Here is my Weddington community real estate driving tour I did on Weddington Chase! This will give you a feel for the community and help you get to know the area before you visit Charlotte, NC.

Let me know if you would like more information on living here or other communities like this in the Charlotte area.

Homes with SEPTIC TANK – Charlotte NC

July 16, 2022 by Danielle Edwards

Homes with Septic Tank System

Should you get a septic inspection?

By Charlotte Top Real Estate Agent- Danielle Edwards

Google FIVE STAR VERIFIED AGENT

When you purchase a home in North Carolina or South Carolina chances are you might be buying a home that has a septic system.  These are typically found in rural areas outside the city limits.  Most septic systems have zero issues, however it is always wise to get an inspection done and ask the seller to pump their “sh*t” out before you purchase.

Two times this year I experienced some septic drama and I swore when I had time I would put together this video for you to enjoy.

You tell me… would you get a septic inspection? Would you want to verify the septic permit?

If you don’t already have a Realtor guiding you on your home buying journey I would be happy to assist you.  If you are outside my area, I can always point you in the direction of another rockstar agent that will do their best to make your home buying experience a great one!
